STAT 310 - Data Collection & Statistical Communication


An introduction to collecting data from a variety of real world sources. Cleaning and maintaining data, as well as ethical issues, will be explored. Students will demonstrate appropriate graphical and inferential techniques, including the appropriate use of rank-based and chi-squared statistics. Through individual and group papers and projects, students will grow in their scientific communication skills, including both speaking and writing as a professional.

Prerequisites: (STAT 190 - Basic Statistics  or STAT 290 - Statistics and ENG 190 - Writing as Critical Thinking  and (COMM 170 - Public Speaking  OR COMM 252 - Interpersonal Communication  OR COMM 276 - Oral Advocacy and Debate ).
