HLTH 240 - Issues in Consumer Health This course meets the requirements for a minor in Health Studies. This course helps students gain a basic understanding of the multitude of issues related to consumer health in the United States. Course topics include Consumer Bill of Rights, consumer-driven healthcare, impacts of advertising on consumer spending (wants vs. needs), consumer protection laws/agencies/organizations, analysis of conventional vs. alternative/complementary medicine, and how to complain effectively. Emphasis is on how these issues currently affect one’s health and well-being.
