CMDS 661G - Language Disorders in Early Childhood


The purpose of this course is to prepare participants to evaluate and treat children ages birth through preschool who present with language disorders. Study will focus on the etiology and characteristics of specific disorders, theoretical and practical considerations in assessment and intervention, and developing skills in language sample analysis and interpretation. Emphasis will be placed on a sociolinguistic view of language development and intervention, cultural factors in assessment and intervention, and language skills related to academic success.

Prerequisites: CMDS 681G - Advanced Clinical Practice  and admission to the communication disorders graduate program.
