JINS 349 - Bodylore/Brainlore: Thinking with the Body Through a combination of theoretical readings, writing, movement, dance and discussion, this course is intended to examine past and present attitudes and ideas surrounding the body and its connection (or perceived lack thereof) to the mind. The course is interdisciplinary both in its examination of debate surrounding the mind/body split and in the kinds of practices we join with our theoretical investigations. Drawing from such disciplines as philosophy, sociology, physiology, literature, the fine arts, and movement, the course includes theoretical readings, writing and discussion, as well as creative writing forms and physical movement forms.
Prerequisite: Junior status. Credits: 3 NOTE:
* This course fulfills the Junior Interdisciplinary Writing-Enhanced Seminar Interconnecting Perspective of the Liberal Studies Program.
** This course counts toward the 63-credit Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) graduation requirement.
