ED 609G - Teaching Internship


A minimum of a public school semester of full-time participation as a junior member of a school faculty under the guidance of mentor teachers, administrators, and University representatives. Extensive experience is provided in all facets of a teacher’s role. Seminars conducted by University personnel assist interns in assessing their experiences, in refining their performance, and in completing University coursework that includes field components. Students who complete a one-semester internship must enroll for a minimum of 8 credits of ED 609G. All students who complete a full year internship must enroll for a minimum of 8 credits of ED 609G each semester of the internship. The maximum number of credits allowed for a full-year internship is 17. Students who complete a practicum for an additional certification area (ESOL, Gifted, Special Reading) must enroll for a minimum of 3 credits of ED 609G.

Prerequisites: Admission to MAE Program and fingerprint clearance, Substitute Teaching Certificate, liability insurance, T.B. test; Secondary/K-12 - ED 601G - Measurement and Evaluation , ED 608G - Management of Instruction:Elementary Education , and ED 603G - Content Area Academic Literacy .
