ENG 265 - American Literatures: Chronology This course takes a chronological approach to analyzing American Literature. Each class examines at least three consecutive periods in American Literature (Pre-Colonial, Romantic, Realism and Naturalism, Modern, Contemporary). This course considers the structural, ideological, historical, or cultural significance of various works by important writers within the selected periods. The focus of each section is indicated in the class schedule. Possible combinations may be: 1) Pre-Colonial, Colonial, Romantic; 2) Colonial, Romantic, Realism and Naturalism; 3) Romantic, Realism and Naturalism, Modern; and 4) Realism and Naturalism, Modern, Contemporary.
