LING 324 - Sociolinguistics An introduction to sociolinguistic variation, including both interpersonal (regional and ethnic dialects, gender and class differences, etc.) and intrapersonal (different registers and styles). Sociolinguistic differences will be considered in their social, cultural, and historical contexts, allowing students to better understand how particular uses of language are judged in particular ways.
