BIOL 334 - Molecular Pharmacology

Pharmacology is a scientific field of study focused on the actions of drugs, which can encompass a wide range of topics from chemistry to physiology. This course will take a molecular approach in discussing how various drugs exert their effects, including the chemical nature of each drug, how each specifically interacts with their cellular target(s), the kinetics and thermodynamics of these interactions, and ultimately the effects on cellular and physiological function.

Prerequisites: BIOL 107 - Cells, Molecules, and Genes BIOL 300 - Genetics CHEM 320 - Foundations of Organic Chemistry  or CHEM 329 - Organic Chemistry I and one of the following: BIOL 330 - Cell Biology BIOL 322 - Principles of Human Physiology BIOL 315 - Animal Physiology  or BIOL 332 - Plant Physiology .
