ART 222 - Global Art to 1400

This class is designed as history with images. It introduces the materials left behind by ancient peoples, and the great monuments of ancient through medieval art to the year 1400. No culture can exist completely without connections with others, and those connections are one of the focuses of this class. We will discuss such ideas as beauty, power, and interaction with the spiritual and the divine through the material culture of the populations of large geographical areas.
