Building upon critical thinking skills and the problem-solving approach utilized in earlier courses, this course focuses on the research process applied to nursing, on the development and writing of a research proposal. Students use writing as a method of communicating research information to an audience of research consumers. The relationships among nursing theory, research and practice are discussed and analyzed. Nursing theory, research and practice are evaluated within a framework of the fundamental patterns of knowing in nursing.
