PHYS 382 - Mathematical Methods in Physics


A survey of mathematical methods commonly used in physics. Topics may include series, vector spaces and vector analysis, linear algebra, Fourier series and transforms, ordinary differential equations, special functions, partial differential equations, and functions of a complex variable.

Prerequisite(s): A grade of “C” or higher in (PHYS 196 - Physics II  or (PHYS 186 - College Physics II  and PHYS 191 - Calculus for Physics II )), MATH 263 - Analytic Geometry and Calculus II , AND (CS 170 - Introduction to Computer Science I  or CS 180 - Foundations of Computer Science I ).
