INDV 321 - The Art (and Science) of Entrepreneurship This course provides both the theoretical foundations and experiential activities that explore the mindset of the entrepreneur and develops skills necessary to become a successful entrepreneur on either a part-time or full-time basis. Desired outcomes involve identification of economic or societal “problems” and development of or extensive collaboration on the devolopment of applied solutions. The course will either begin with or conclude with an intensive day and a half of lectures and activities hosted at a major innovation center in either St. Louis or Kansas City, will include at least one other off-campus experiential activity and will culminate in “pitch ready” proposals from the various student teams involved in the class. Field experiences and professional training in the various aspects will be imbedded in the course. Examples include field visits to entrepreneurial networking events and hands-on training in entrepreneurial finance. Participants will emerge with the background and basic skills necessary to begin starting (or to help others in starting) their own business or organizations.
