LING 326 - WE/Language and Ethnicity


This course will focus on the intersection of language and race and ethnicity, including Black English, Latinx English, Chicanx English, and other varieties. We will take a linguistic approach to examining these varieties of language, and explore their history and context in the US. We will also explore their use in culture and media, and consider the policies and laws that influence and affect their status, ultimately working towards a deeper understanding and analysis of their role in culture and society.
