ENG 266 - American Literatures: Topics This course examines topics and/or time periods in American literature, including Pre-Colonial, Romantic, Realism and Naturalism, Modern, and Contemporary periods. Topics, time periods, authors, and texts may vary. Analysis of the topic stresses both works’ intrinsic values and their contributions to American history and culture. Students will learn more about the historical, cultural, and intellectual background of the literature, including increased intercultural awareness of ideologies, genres, genders, and social classes. May be repeated under different topics.
