PHRE 383 - Philosophy of Language A critical examination of the philosophical issues surrounding language and language use. Topics to be discussed include: meaning, truth and reference; the interrelations of language, thought, and culture; the peculiarities of poetics, religious and moral discourse.
Credits: 3 hours NOTE: This course fulfills the Philosophical/Religious Mode of Inquiry of the Liberal Studies Program.
NOTE: This course counts toward the 63-hour Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) graduation requirement.
