HLTH 330 - Community Nutrition for Special Populations


This course will aid in the development of basic foundation of awareness, knowledge, and skills from which to apply the principles of community nutrition to various constituencies (elderly populations, children, impoverished populations, women, diabetics, etc.). As part of the integrated service learning component, course information will be applied to aid in students’ understanding of local program planning, policies, resources, and nutrition issues specific to community nutrition for various populations. This course will also present material relevant to solving community nutritional and health problems, including program delivery, nutrition education, nutrition assessment, and planning nutrition interventions.

Prerequisites: (HLTH 190 or HLTH 290) and health science major.
Credits: 3 hours
