Environmental Studies Minor

The interdisciplinary Environmental Studies Minor requires the successful completion of six courses (16 credits minimum) consisting of two required courses and four elective courses; successful completion of a capstone project; and at least three courses (7 credits minimum) at the 300 level or above. A maximum of two courses may also count for major and/or JINS requirements.
A student intending to minor in environmental studies must submit a learning plan to the Environmental Studies Minor Committee for approval before beginning to work on the minor. The learning plan template may be obtained from the Office of Interdisciplinary Studies web page, and more information on completing and submitting the learning plan may be found there.

Distribution Categories:
Choose four courses from at least three of the following distribution categories for a total of no less than 12 credits: 1. Science
Agricultural science, biology, chemistry, physics coursework, research, special problems, or internship credit to be identified, including, but not limited to: 2. Social Science
Geography, economics, sociology/anthropology, and psychology coursework related to environmental studies, research, special problems, or internship credit to be identified, including, but not limited to: 3. Humanities
Philosophy and religion, English, communication, and foreign language coursework related to environmental studies, readings, research, special problems, or internship credit to be identified, including, but not limited to: 4. Interdisciplinary
