Minimum criteria for Honors in German:

  1. 3.50 overall Truman GPA
  2. 3.80 GPA in German courses
  3. Procedure for applying for Honors in German if the above minimum criteria are met:
a. Letter of application written in German
b. Portfolio of work in the German program
c. Oral interview
  1. Each applicant should meet with his or her capstone professor or German convener for details. Deadline for application: before midterm of the graduating semester. 


Liberal Studies Program Requirements: 31-57 Credits

Missouri Statute Requirement: 1-3 Credits

Bachelor of Arts Requirement: 0-6 Credits


The German major consists of two (2) parts: Required Support and Major Requirements.  Each student must complete both parts.

Part I: Required Support: 3-9 Credits

Part II: Major Requirements: 30 Credits


No grade of “D” in major courses is accepted toward the German major.

A maximum of 15 hours may be brought into the German Major from other institutions, domestic or abroad.

In lieu of German 339 (German Culture in English), a course relating to the culture or history of the German-speaking countries taught in another department may be selected with prior approval, but only one course taught in English may count toward the major or minor.

Electives to Total: 120 Credits
