|
Affiliation: Interdisciplinary Studies
The interdisciplinary Italian Studies Minor requires the successful completion of 15 credits of coursework in Italian studies. These classes, if taken for an Art History, Music, or Classics major, can still be counted toward the Italian Studies Minor. Many of these classes are also available through Study Abroad. With questions, please contact:
- Dr. Marie Orton, Italian, 785-6011
- Dr. Antonio Scuderi, Italian, 785-4486
- Dr. Julia DeLancey, Art History, 785-4430
NOTE: No grade of “D” is accepted toward the Italian Studies Minor.

Language: One required course (3 Credits)
Choose 4 of the following (12-13 hours). A minimum of 6 hours must have the ITAL prefix.
Total 15-16 credits
- Some of the above requirements may be satisfied with study abroad courses or other international experiences. All students pursuing an Italian Studies minor wishing to count (a) study abroad course(s) or other experience(s) towards the minor must successfully complete a Study Abroad Course Equivalency Application form, available on the Departmental of Classical and Modern Languages website, and receive approval of that application. Prior to completing that form, students must consult with the chair of the Italian Studies Committee. Failure to consult, and to fill out and gain approval of the Course Equivalency request, may result in some or all credits not being awarded for courses taken abroad.
- A minimum of nine credits of the coursework for the Italian Studies minor must be completed at Truman State University or through a Truman State University faculty-led program.
- No grade of “D” is accepted toward the Italian Studies Minor.
- A course of Italian language at the 300 level or above can substitute any course for the Italian Studies minor.
