Equine Studies Minor

Program Requirements:

The Equine Studies Minor is available to students completing any degree, including a B.S. in Agricultural Science. Students completing a B.S. in Agricultural Science may use up to 16 credits toward satisfying their major requirements (including AGSC electives and area of specialization) and the Equine Studies Minor.

The Equine Studies Minor requires the successful completion of 16 credits as follows:

Complete these Required Courses (7 credits)

AGSC 180 - Introduction to Equine Science Credits: 3
AGSC 181 - Introductory Equine Management Lab Credits: 1
AGSC 375 - Equine Exercise Physiology Credits: 3

Complete one of these two courses (3 credits)

AGSC 342 - Agricultural Entrepreneurship Credits: 3
OR AGSC 350 - Equine Business Credits: 3

And complete Six Credit hours from the following list of courses (6 credits)

AGSC 152 - Horsemanship Level I Credits: 1
AGSC 153 - Horsemanship Level II Credits: 1
AGSC 154 - Horsemanship Level III Credits: 1
AGSC 252 - Horse Training Techniques Credits: 3
AGSC 301 - Special Problems in Agricultural Science Credits: 1 to 6 *
Up to 3 hours of AGSC 301 Special Problems: Agriculture may be used toward the Equine Minor. Course topic must be of equine related focus.
AGSC 310 - Forage Crops Credits: 3
AGSC 321 - Animal Nutrition Credits: 4
AGSC 322 - Animal Health Credits: 3
AGSC 327 - Genetics of Animal and Plant Improvement Credits: 3
AGSC 352 - Reproductive Physiology Credits: 3
AGSC 353 - Equine Reproduction Practicum Credits: 3
