Asian Studies Minor

Affiliation: Interdisciplinary Studies

For those students interested in the language, culture and arts of Asia, Truman’s interdisciplinary Asian Studies minor pairs well with any major. Students will deepen their understanding of global and cultural engagement as they learn how their unique traditions have influenced the world.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS:

  1. A 2.00 GPA in minor requirements.
  2. At least nine hours of the program requirements must be completed at Truman State University.
  3. Students may double-count two courses (up to 8 credits) toward their major or towards a second minor.

The Asian Studies Minor requires successful completion of at least 15 credits taken from the courses listed below.

  • Since this is an interdisciplinary minor, students must choose courses from at least three of the four areas.
  • Courses taken in International Studies Exchange or Study Abroad Programs in Asian regions may be substituted into Area IV with the approval of the Asian Studies Minor committee.

Other options:

The following courses will count in the Asian Studies Minor when the topics of the course relate to Asian or Asian American topics. This will be done by batch substitution, as appropriate.
