Musical Theatre Minor

The Departments of Music and Theatre offer students the opportunity to minor in Musical Theatre. The minor focuses primarily on live performance in the areas of singing, acting and dance. Students are admitted into the Musical Theatre Minor program on the basis of audition. The audition dates and requirements can be found online and through the Art, Music and Theatre office. Students must meet the following minimum requirements in order to audition for the minor:
Completion of the following courses with a grade of “C” or better:
- THEA 277 - Acting I: Elements of Acting
- 1 credit from the following:
MUSI 142 - Class Lessons in Voice
MUSI 155 - Voice, Lower Division (can be repeated)
MUSI 156 - Voice, Lower Division
MUSI 157 - Voice, Lower Division
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS:
- A 2.00 GPA in minor requirements.
- At least nine hours of the program requirements must be completed at Truman State University.
- A minimum of 18 credits.
- Courses indicated by two astericks cannot be used for Musical Theatre Minor if also being used for Theatre Minor.

Program Requirements (18-22 Credits):
The Musical Theatre Minor requires the successful completion of 18 credits of the following courses. 2 credits or more from the following (Voice):
2 credits or more from the following (Dance):
2 credits or more from the following:
Elective Coursework (3 credits):
