Creative Writing (BFA)

Admission to the BFA Creative Writing program requires either 1) Grade of “B” or above in ENG 204 Creative Writing and submitting a letter of application to the Department Chair or 2) Submitting both a creative writing sample and letter of application to the Department Chair.

Students may not earn both a BFA Creative Writing and a BA English degree.

DEGREE REQUIREMENTS:

Liberal Studies Program Requirements: 31-57 Credit Hours


Missouri Statute Requirement: 1-3 Credit Hours


Bachelor of Fine Arts Requirement: 0-6 Credit Hours


  •  Intermediate Proficiency in ONE foreign language

MAJOR REQUIREMENTS: 32-41 Credit Hours


  • Any three 300-level or above courses from the three literature areas of the BA English major: 9-12 Credit Hours

Any three of the following courses: 9-10 Credit Hours

In consultation with their academic advisor, students select 1-5 credit hours from the following:

Only grades of “C” or higher in major courses will be accepted toward a Creative Writing degree.
