DEPARTMENTAL HONORS IN SPANISH
1. 3.5 overall GPA 
2. 3.5 GPA in major courses 
3. Either 
a. Study abroad (at least one summer); maintain a GPA of 3.5 or above in those courses OR 
b. Take one additional upper-division Spanish course OR 
c. Demonstrate excellence in undergraduate research outside of classwork OR 
d. Demonstrate significant activity/leadership in the Spanish program (Spanish Club, Sigma Delta Pi, Spanish wing) 
4. Demonstrate excellence in a capstone project.

		Liberal Studies Program Requirements: 31-57 Credit Hours
   Missouri Statute Requirement: 1-3 Credit Hours
 Bachelor of Arts Requirement: 0-6 Credit Hours
  - Intermediate proficiency in ONE foreign language
   MAJOR REQUIREMENTS:
 The Spanish major consists of two (2) parts: Required Support and Major Requirements.  Each student must complete both parts. Part I: Required Support: 3-9 Credit Hours
 Part II: Major Requirements: 37 Credit Hours
 And THREE of the following with only one at the 300-level
   Electives to Total: 120 Credit Hours
   Notes:
  - A maximum of 12 credit hours of coursework completed outside of the Truman Spanish program may be applied to the major.
  - Students may apply to the major no more than 9 hours of credit from any one full semester (fall or spring) study abroad program.
  - Students may apply to the major no more than 6 hours of credit from any one summer study abroad program.
  - No grade of “D” in major courses will be accepted toward the Spanish major.
