This graduate level course provides an overview to the principles, methods, and challenges of teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). Designed for future educators and advocates, it explores key instructional strategies, second language acquisition theories, and sociocultural factors that shape multilingual learning environments. Special attention is given to issues relevant to rural, suburban, and urban ESL contexts and public school settings in Missouri and neighboring areas.
