MUSI 339 - Music Literature


Western European art music of the common practice period (c. 1600-1900). The course is organized according to different musical genres (symphony, concerto, chamber music, Lieder, and keyboard literature) and places an emphasis upon understanding and recognizing musical styles within an historical context.

Prerequisites: MUSI 131 and MUSI 133.
Credits: 3 hours
NOTE: General Honors Course.
NOTE: This course fulfills the Aesthetic: Fine Arts Mode of Inquiry of the Liberal Studies Program. Music major Music Theory, Literature, and History course.
NOTE: This course counts toward the 63-hour Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) graduation requirement.
