PORT 101 - Elementary Portuguese I Introduction to the Portuguese language and its diverse cultural settings. Students begin to develop elementary proficiency in vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation and examine how these elements create cultural meaning. Emphasis is on Brazil, but students are encouraged to explore Portuguese elsewhere as well (Angola, Portugal, etc.). Three classroom hours per week plus two laboratory hours are required.
Credits: 3 NOTE:
* This course and continuing course PORT 102 fulfill the Foreign Language Interconnecting Perspective of the Liberal Studies Program.
** This course counts toward the 63-credit Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) graduation requirement.
