POL 367 - Political Parties and Interest Groups This course focuses on the importance of America’s political parties and interest groups in elections, in the institutions of government, and in the society. The course will also focus on how these actors form and maintain themselves, how changes have occurred in them over time, and on the techniques that they use to try to shape the outcomes of elections and public policies. Attention will also focus on their role in the financing of American politics. Students will learn not only the organization and behavior of parties and groups, but also will learn the key literature, theories and concepts used to study them.
Credits: 3 NOTE:
* This course counts toward the 63-credit Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) graduation requirement.
