CHEM 350 - Analytical Chemistry for the Life Sciences An introduction to the use of quantitative and instrumental methods of chemical analysis as applied to the life sciences. Topics explored in lecture and/or laboratory include measurement techniques, data treatment, equilibrium, titrations, acid/base chemistry and buffers, electrochemistry, analytical separations (chromatography and electrophoresis), analytical spectroscopy (atomic, UV-Visible, Fluorescence) and mass spectrometry (GC-MS and large molecule MS). May not be used as part of a Chemistry Major but may be used as part of a Chemistry Minor in place of Quantitative Analysis (CHEM 222). Chemistry major MAY NOT enroll.
Prerequisites: CHEM 131 - Chemical Principles II with a grade of C or higher; STAT 190 - Basic Statistics or STAT 290 - Statistics with a grade of C or higher or instructor approval. Credits: 4 NOTE:
* Honors Scholar Course.

*** This course counts toward the 63-hour Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) graduation requirement.
