BIOL 330 - Cell Biology


This course covers the structure, organization and function of cells, with an emphasis on eukaryotes. Topics include macromolecular structure, biological membranes, functions of major organelles, protein and vesicular trafficking, bioenergetics, the cytoskeleton and cell-cell communication. Biology majors are required to take Cell Biology OR BIOL 315 - Animal Physiology  OR BIOL 322 - Principles of Human Physiology  OR BIOL 332 - Plant Physiology .

Prerequisites: Successful completion of BIOL 107 - Cells, Molecules, and Genes  with a grade of ‘C’ or higher and co-enrollment in CHEM 130 - Chemical Principles I . Completion of or co-enrollment in CHEM 131 - Chemical Principles II  and completion of at least two semesters of college-level coursework are strongly suggested.
