GERM 439 - Twentieth and Twenty-First Century Literature of the German Speaking Countries Modern German literature from Expressionism through contemporary literature. Works by Austrian, Swiss, and German authors are read in the original texts. Attention is given to a comparison between the literary production in the former German Democratic Republic and the Federal Republic of Germany as well as German literary production after reunification. Class discussion in German.
