This course focuses on the assessment of needs and capacity and the planning process for health education and health promotion interventions. Areas of emphasis include obtaining evidence informed sources of data, determining factors that influence the health of the priority population and using assessment findings to inform the planning process. Theories and models commonly used for health promotion interventions will be reviewed. Desired outcomes for interventions will be identified using the needs and capacity assessment. Students will apply principles of cultural humility, inclusion, and diversity to the assessment and planning process.
