JINS 306 - Rock Music (template course)


What is the relationship between rock music (pop, punk, or experimental) and the society that creates it? Students in this course will use the methodologies of musicology, history, sociology, and literary studies to study rock music in its cultural context. This is a template course. Possible topics include the British invasion (US & Great Britain, 1960-1980), Krautrock (Germany, late 1960s), Hip Hop (US, 1970s), and Indie Rock (US, 1980s).

Prerequisite: JINS eligibility (55-95 credits applied).
