CMDS 684G - Language Disorders in School-Aged Children


The purpose of this course is to prepare participants to evaluate and treat school-aged children (Kindergarten through twelfth grade) with language disorders. Study will focus on the etiology and characteristics of specific disorders, theoretical and practical considerations in assessment and intervention, and developing skills in language sample analysis and interpretation. Emphasis will be placed on a sociolinguistic view of language development and intervention, cultural factors in assessment and intervention, and language skills related to academic success.

Prerequisite: Admission to the CMDS graduate program.  Corequisites: CMDS 661G - Language Disorders in Early Childhood CMDS 681G - Advanced Clinical Practice .
