NU 425 - Community Mental Health Nursing This course is designed to teach basic psychiatric/mental health nursing concepts and their application to clinical practice. Major mental health disorders throughout the lifespan as well as contemporary methods of treatment are addressed. Learning is focused on developmental, psychological, and biological theories, the science of human care nursing, caring communication, and understanding the unique contributions of social and cultural factors in order to enhance understanding of mental health disorders. Application of theoretical concepts and nursing interventions is the focus of the clinical experience in acute, chronic, and community mental health settings.
