BIOL 331 - Introduction to Evolutionary Biology This course presents a broad overview of evolutionary biology, from its historical origins to its modern applications. Students will explore current theories about the earth’s evolutionary history, review representative papers from the classic and modern evolutionary literature, explain major biotic and abiotic processes that drive evolution, and discuss the future of evolution in a world increasingly shaped by human activities. In lab, students will use statistical methods to analyze evolutionary data gathered from online databases and collected by the students themselves. This course OR BIOL 301 - Introduction to Ecology OR BIOL 304 - General Microbiology OR BIOL 323 - Eukaryotic Diversity is required as a core elective for all Biology majors. Students are encouraged to delay enrollment until after completing the Biology core courses.
Prerequisites: BIOL 104 - Ecology and Evolution of the Organism with a grade of ‘C’ or better AND BIOL 300 - Genetics with a grade of ‘C’ or better AND CHEM 131 - Chemical Principles II . Credit(s): 4 When Offered: Spring Course Attribute(s):
