LING 398 - Linguistics Mid-Major Seminar


Students will read selected articles from recent annual reviews of linguistics and applied linguistics to get a better feel for the history of the disciplines and where they stand now. The class will also cover how to apply for graduate programs, critical language scholarships, Peace Corps, nationally competitive fellowships (Fulbright, Rhodes, Marshall), and will explore other “next steps” options. Students will come out of the class with an approved proposal for their capstone project and a preliminary cv or resume.

Prerequisites: LING 315 - Structure and History of Romance Languages , LING 318 - Structure and History of English , or LING 319 - Structure and History of a Language or Language Family .
