HLTH 467 - Introduction to Epidemiology


Increasing an understanding of epidemiological concepts, practices, and methods is a primary focus. Topics covered during the course are history of epidemiology, disease etiology, measures of morbidity and mortality, descriptive means of epidemiology, data uses in the field, study designs, measures of effect, data interpretation issues, screening guidelines, and epidemiological aspects of infectious diseases, work and the environment. A separate focus will be placed on the practice of analyzing data in epidemiological investigations.

Prerequisites: HLTH 349 and health science major or statistical methods minor.
Credits: 3 hours
