COMM 410 - Media and Social Theory This course surveys the philosophical roots and intellectual history of social theory in mass communication, journalism, and media studies. Students engage primary texts from pragmatism, sociology, mass culture, critical theory, and British cultural studies. It cultivates a critical, grounded understanding of social theory and its relevance to contemporary research and concerns about media and society.
Prerequisite: COMM 250. Credits: 3 hours NOTE: This course counts toward the 63-hour Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) graduation requirement.
