Journalism Minor

The Journalism minor provides students with the foundation of mediated communication skills. Students learn to analyze, interpret, and critique civic issues in ways that can transform personal lives, social relations, political institutions, economic organizations, and cultural and aesthetic conventions in society. The minor focuses on convergent journalism, promoting writing, editing, production, and critical thinking skills used in multiple media platforms (print, online, audio, and video).

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS:

  1. A 2.00 GPA in minor requirements.
  2. At least 9 hours of the program requirements must be completed at Truman State University.
  3. No grade lower than a “C” is accepted toward the completion of the Journalism minor.

The Journalism Minor requires the successful completion of 18 credits of the following courses:

Note:


A Journalism minor may be coupled with a Communication major, but only COMM 250 - Mass Communication  and COMM 455 - Communication Law  may count for both the major and minor.
