Study Abroad

Students can also earn course credits for the Minor by studying abroad in Africa (or the Caribbean) through Truman and other universities. Truman State University sponsors the Missouri-Africa Program (MAP) which is a one-semester program at the University of Ghana-Legon. That program enables students to enroll in regular courses at the University of Ghana where all courses are taught in English. However, students should consult with the Committee before studying abroad for guidance on which courses can be substituted and in which category.

For more information on MAP or other study abroad opportunities, contact the Center for International Education Abroad Office at (660) 785-4076 or email: ciea@truman.edu.

Note:

Students may also undertake research papers on a topic pertaining to African or African-American history in other courses, including independent study, and then petition the African/African-American Studies Minor Committee to have those courses count towards the Minor.
