Classical Studies Minor

Program Requirements:

The Interdisciplinary Classical Studies Minor requires the successful completion of 15-17 semester hours of the following courses. At least two courses (6 hours) at the intermediate level or higher in either the Greek or Latin language sequence; and at least two courses (6-8 hours) at any level in the other language sequence; plus one of the following courses: 

• Additional course from higher-level Greek or Latin language courses.

• ART 328 - The Art of Greece and Rome Credits: 3 hours
• CLAS 261 - Greek Literature in Translation Credits: 3 hours
• CLAS 262 - Roman Literature in Translation Credits: 3 hours
• CLAS 361 - Greek and Roman Mythology Credits: 3 hours
• CLAS 362 - Classical Civilization Credits: 3 hours
• CLAS 363 - Women and Gender in Antiquity Credits: 3 hours
• COMM 390 - Classical Rhetoric Credits: 3 hours
• GRE 300 - Sacred Sites in Greece Credits: 6 hours

• (counts as 1 course; 3 additional credits may be used elsewhere.)

• GRE 301 - The Sacred Feminine: Goddesses and Mortal Women in Ancient Greece Credits: 3 hours
• HIST 342 - Ancient Greece Credits: 3 hours
• HIST 343 - Ancient Rome Credits: 3 hours
• PHRE 336 - History of Philosophy I: Ancient Philosophy Credits: 3 hours

Note:

No grade of “D” will be accepted toward the Classical Studies minor.
