Creative Writing (BFA)

Admission to the BFA Creative Writing program requires either 1) Grade of “B” or above in ENG 204 Creative Writing and submitting a letter of application to the Department Chair or 2) Submitting both a creative writing sample and letter of application to the Department Chair.
Students may not earn both a BFA Creative Writing and a BA English degree.
DEGREE REQUIREMENTS:

Liberal Studies Program Requirements: 31-57 Credits
Missouri Statute Requirement: 1-3 Credits
Bachelor of Fine Arts Requirement: 0-6 Credits
- Intermediate Proficiency in ONE foreign language
MAJOR REQUIREMENTS: 32-41 Credits
- Any three 300-level or above courses from the three literature areas of the BA English major: 9-12 Credits
Choose at least two courses from the list below: 6-7 Credits
Any three of the following courses: 9-10 Credits
Elective Courses:
In consultation with their academic advisor, students select 1-5 credits from the following: Note:
Only grades of “C” or higher in major courses are accepted toward a Creative Writing degree. Electives to Total: 120 Credits
