DEPARTMENTAL HONORS IN FRENCH
To graduate with Departmental Honors in French, the student must meet the following criteria:
- Overall GPA of 3.50 or better.
- Major GPA of 3.50 or better.
- Either:
a. Study abroad (at least one summer) with a GPA of 3.50 or above in those courses,
OR b. Take one additional upper-level French course (in addition to those required for the French major),
OR c. Demonstrate excellence in undergraduate research outside of class work,
OR d. Demonstrate significant activity/leadership in the French program (i.e., Pi Delta Phi, French wing, French play).
- Demonstrate excellence in the French capstone project.
Students who meet the above criteria may apply for French Honors by submitting a brief letter, along with documentation demonstrating that the criteria (above) have been met, to the French Program Coordinator.

Liberal Studies Program Requirements: 31-57 Credits
Missouri Statute Requirement: 1-3 Credits
Bachelor of Arts Requirement: 0-6 Credits
- Intermediate proficiency in ONE foreign language
MAJOR REQUIREMENTS:
The French major consists of two (2) parts: Required Support and Major Requirements. Each student must complete both parts. Part I: Required Support: 3-9 Credits
Part II: Major Requirements: 32 Credits
And TWO courses from the following:
NOTE:
No grade of “D” in major courses is accepted toward the French major. Electives to Total: 120 Credits
