BIOL 345 - Introduction to Mathematical Biology


This course focuses on using mathematical techniques to model biological systems ranging from the molecular to the community scale. Topics from matrix algebra, differential equations, discrete mathematics, probability and statistics are introduced and developed through lectures, computer-based exercises, and readings from the scientific literature. Completion of at least two semesters of college-level coursework (i.e., sophomore status) is strongly recommended for enrollment in this course. Prerequisites: MATH 198 - Analytic Geometry and Calculus I  OR (MATH 187 - Calculus I with Precalculus Review I  and MATH 197 - Calculus I with Precalculus Review II ).
