NU 185 - Dimensions of Professional Nursing Content focuses on increasing students’ knowledge of the past, present, and future of the profession of nursing. Topics discussed include the following areas: historical evolution of nursing; definition, scope, and uniqueness of the nursing discipline; nursing licensure; ethics; values; educational routes; professionalism; and the impact of informatics. The course is designed to meet basic computer literacy requirements. This course serves as an Extended Truman Week Experience during the fall; fall semester is reserved for only first-year entering nursing majors.
