Music Business (BS)

Affiliation: School of Arts & Letters

The Bachelor of Science in Music Business degree prepares students for a variety of careers in fields such as modern performance, arts management, and the commercial music industry. This degree includes coursework from a variety of campus departments and provides a multidisciplinary education.

The curriculum includes essential knowledge in both music and business as well as a broad collection of elective study that supports each student’s individual aspirations. The degree also prioritizes technical education and encourages entrepreneurship to prepare the students for work in the modern arts industries. It is completed by a capstone internship in which the student applies what they have learned to a professional experience of their choice.

ADMISSION TO THE MUSIC PROGRAM

Prior to declaring a major in music, each student must perform for the appropriate studio faculty in order to determine that the student has reached a sufficiently advanced level of applied proficiency. While a personal audition is highly recommended, in cases where such is not possible, a recording of the student’s performance may be accepted. Transfer students may also be subject to placement examinations in theory and music history.
