Program Requirements:

The Equine Studies Minor is available to students completing any degree, including a B.S. in Agricultural Science. Students completing a B.S. in Agricultural Science may double-count up to 18 credit hours toward their major requirements (including AGSC electives and area of specialization) and the Equine Studies Minor.

The Equine Studies Minor requires the successful completion of 17-18 semester hours as follows:

AGSC 193 - Introduction to Equine Science Credits: 3 hours
AGSC 342 - Agricultural Entrepreneurship Credits: 3 hours
AGSC 352 - Animal Reproduction Credits: 3 hours
AGSC 353 - Equine Reproduction Practicum Credits: 2 hours
AGSC 375 - Equine Exercise Physiology Credits: 3 hours

Choose one option from the following:

OPTION A - Complete all three of the following:

AGSC 152 - Horsemanship Level I Credits: 1 hour
AGSC 153 - Horsemanship Level II Credits: 1 hour
AGSC 154 - Horsemanship Level III Credits: 1 hour

OPTION B - Complete one of the following:

AGSC 252 - Horse Training Techniques Credits: 3 hours
AGSC 310 - Forage Crops Credits: 3 hours
AGSC 321 - Animal Nutrition Credits: 4 hours
AGSC 322 - Animal Health Credits: 3 hours
AGSC 327 - Genetics of Animal and Plant Improvement Credits: 3 hours
