HIST 384 - Peoples of the Russian Empire and Former Soviet Union This course explores the national and ethnic diversity of the Russian Empire and former Soviet Union, territory that comprises one-sixth of the world’s land surface. We examine the impact of imperial and communist rule on a variety of peoples, as well as the resilience and strategies of survival that kept their cultures alive.
