CHEM 333 - Organic Chemistry Lab


Introduction to modern organic laboratory with initial emphasis on techniques of separation, purification, and qualitative identification, including crystallization, distillation, extraction, and gas and the thin layer chromatography, etc. Simple preparative experiments followed by multi-step syntheses. Exploratory mechanistic chemistry based on modern techniques such as NMR and IR spectroscopy. This course is equivalent to the combination of CHEM 330 - Organic Chemistry I Lab  and CHEM 332 - Organic Chemistry II Lab . Honors Scholar Course in conjunction with CHEM 329 or CHEM 331.
